A1 Roofing Nottingham

At A1 Roofing Nottingham, we often receive questions from homeowners in Nottinghamshire about the effectiveness of roofing felt in keeping their roofs waterproof. As a reputable roofing company with over 15 years of experience, we're here to provide you with the facts.

Roofing felt, also known as underlayment, is a layer of material installed between the roof deck and the roofing material, such as tiles or slates. Its primary purpose is to provide an extra layer of protection against water damage and to help prevent leaks.

While roofing felt is designed to be water-resistant, it's not entirely waterproof. Over time, the felt can deteriorate, allowing water to seep through and cause damage to the roof. This is particularly true for flat roofs, which are more prone to water pooling and damage.

Flat roofs are more susceptible to water damage due to their design. If the felt layer is compromised, water can easily seep into the roof, causing damage to the structure and potentially leading to costly repairs. In such cases, we recommend considering alternative roofing materials, such as fibreglass or EPDM, which offer superior waterproofing properties.

If your roof is damaged, it's essential to address the issue promptly to prevent further damage. At A1 Roofing Nottingham, we offer a range of roofing services, including repairs and replacements, to ensure your roof remains waterproof and secure.

Fibreglass roofing is a popular alternative to traditional felt roofing. It's a cost-effective and durable solution that provides a waterproof seal, making it an ideal choice for flat roofs. Our team of experienced roofers can install fibreglass roofing systems that come with a guarantee of up to 20 years.
